Catherine Scavone is 20 years old. She was born with pulmonary atresia and underwent three open heart surgeries in her lifetime so far. Her family includes her parents, Gary and Lynn, her brother, David and her identical twin Meredith. Even though Catherine is a heart kid, she was able to remain very active.

Most of her childhood revolved around playing soccer and she was quite competitive. In high school she played for three years and made it to the quarter finals of the state tournament. She was a member of the St. Oliver's Life Teen and served as a senior leader. For the past five summers she has worked as a Counselor for Camp New Heights. This past summer she was awarded a senior counselor position. At this camp she teaches five and six year olds the basics of sports and teamwork. Currently she is a Junior at the University of Georgia and is working on her degree in Special Education. She would ultimately like to work with Autistic children.

Catherine will receive the scholarship this year and next year until she earns her degree. We wish Catherine the best of luck as she pursues her degree!
