A great time was had by all at the 11th annual Sydney Mae Taylor Memorial Golf Tournament. This year’s tournament was dedicated to the memory of Megan Daddario, who was one of our newest scholarship recipients for the 2010-2011 school year. Half-way through her freshman year of college, Megan was diagnosed with non-Hogkin’s Lymphoma and died this past summer. Megan had dreamed of becoming a nurse to give back to other children who would go through similar things that she went through, and we know she would have made an excellent nurse. She will be sorely missed.
This year’s tournament was a success. We raised almost $9,000! This will help us to fund our 17 scholarship for 2011-2012. Thanks to everyone who supported our efforts!

A great time was had by all at the 4th annual casino night held on May 14. Rick Williams was the celebrity MC and guests enjoyed a delicious dinner and casino games at the event. Supporters of the event helped to raise over $7300 for the foundation! This will go towards funding scholarships for deserving “heart” students, sending “heart” kids to Camp BraveHearts this summer, and funding our heart-healthy presetation with Virtua Hospital at Ashbrook Elementary School! Thanks for your support!
Sydney Mae Taylor will hold its 4th annual casino night on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at Laurel Creek Country Club in Mt. Laurel, NJ from 7:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Mark your calendars!
This year, Rick Williams from Channel 6ABC will be joining us as our celebrity guest MC. We are very excited to have Rick join us this year as his colleague Karen Rogers has done for the past several years. We appreciate the support that 6ABC has shown us!

Our 3rd Annual Casino Night was held on Saturday, May 15 at Laurel Creek Country Club in Mt. Laurel, New Jersey. This year’s event was presented by Mednet Healthcare Technologies.
One hundred guests, foundation supporters and board of directors members from the tri-state area were greeted by the M.C. Karen Rogers, Channel 6 Action News meteorologist and host of FYI Philly, and Sydney Mae Taylor Foundation co-founders Erin and Jay Taylor, of Lumberton, New Jersey.

Karen Rogers, Channel 6ABC Meterologist and Guest MC, makes a touching and heartfelt speech
At the third annual event, guests played blackjack, craps, roulette and Texas Hold ‘Em Poker while enjoying a dinner with a dessert buffet and open bar. Guests also bid on silent auction items including jewelry, a VIP tour of the David Letterman Show, tickets to Regis & Kelly, Phillies, Yankees and Mets baseball tickets, local sports memorabilia, and theme gift baskets including gift certificates from local businesses.
A highlight of the evening was the introduction of one of SMT’s current students who receives a college scholarship from the Foundation. Kevin Bell, a student at Ball State University, told the guests about his struggles and triumphs being a “heart kid.” The Foundation has given twenty five scholarships, with twenty one being awarded this year! This year’s event was a huge success, raising $13,000!

Kevin Bell addresses the guests.
Awarding the college scholarships fulfills part of SMT’s mission, which is to contribute to the education and well-being of children with congenital heart defects. The scholarships are awarded based on academic merit, extracurricular activities, and community involvement.
The next fund raising event, Sydney Mae Taylor Foundation’s Golf Tournament, will be held at Laurel Creek Country Club on October 11, 2010. More information is available at www.sydneymaetaylorfoundation.org.
September 13th, 2009
The 9th Annual SMT Memorial Golf Tournament was held on Monday, September 21, 2009. Started in 2001, the Golf Tournament is the Foundation’s longest running event. After holding the event at several clubs in southern New Jersey, the Foundation has made a long-term commitment to
Laurel Creek Country Club at 701 Centerton Road in Mt. Laurel, NJ. Designed by Arnold Palmer and modeled off of traditional links style courses found in Scotland and Ireland, this course features one of the regions more challenging links style layouts.

SMT Board Member Tina Paparone-Lutz, Co Founder Erin Taylor, Director of Events Diane O'Neill, and Volunteers Kristina Matkowsky and Diane Taylor
The day began with a beautiful clear, blue sky – perfect weather for a relaxing day of golf. Guests arrived and were greeted warmly by enthusiastic SMT volunteers, as well as the very attentive, professional and courteous staff at Laurel Creek. The shotgun start, best ball format play began at 9:30 am and concluded around 3:00 pm. Unfortunately, no one won the 2010 White Jaguar XF that was offered as the hole-in-one car courtesy of Cherry Hill Classic Cars, though everyone tried! After the round, guests were treated to a delicious rustic Italian luncheon served in Laurel Creek’s grand ballroom. During the awards presentation, co-founder Jay Taylor informed guests that the event had raised almost $9000 and brought the foundation’s money-raised-since-inception to over $100,000 in nine years!

SMT Board Member Chris Tegley tees off.
Co-Founder Erin Taylor spoke about some of SMT’s incredible scholarship recipients and the good work that they are doing in their various schools. The day concluded with prizes awarded to the winning foursomes as well as the contest hole prize winners. Guests left that day after an enjoyable day of golf, looking forward to next year’s tournament at Laurel Creek Country Club to be held on October 11, 2010.

The 2nd annual Sydney Mae Taylor Foundation Casino Night was held on May 9, 2009. One hundred guests, foundation supporters and board of directors members from the tri-state area were greeted by the M.C. Karen Rogers, Channel 6 Action News meteorologist and host of FYI Philly, and Sydney Mae Taylor Foundation co-founders Erin and Jay Taylor.
At the second annual event, guests played blackjack, craps, roulette and Texas Hold ‘Em Poker while enjoying a dinner with a dessert buffet and open bar. Guests also bid on silent auction items including jewelry, a VIP tour of ABC’s Good Morning America, tickets to Regis & Kelly, Phillies and Mets baseball tickets, local sports memorabilia, rounds at various local golf courses including Little Mill and Laurel Creek Country Clubs, and theme gift baskets including gift certificates from local businesses.
A highlight of the evening was the introduction of three students who had received college scholarships from the Foundation. Zachary Marshall, a resident of Burlington, NJ and a student at East Stroudsburg University, was one of the recipients. The Foundation has given nineteen scholarships, with eighteen being awarded this year! Over $8000 was raised at this event, which will go towards funding scholarships for next year.
